Out with the old and in with the new!
I am so excited about the New Year and all the possibilities that arrive with it! Have you ever had a moment when you knew, deep in your gut just knew something was brewing? The goals I have for this year, woke me with a smile this morning!
If you have not listened to any of the recent episodes featuring Mary Cheyne, pause here and check them out. Mary and I go in-depth discussing fear and how it can affect your long-term success. The inner critic that Mary references, the hesitation to move forward with a goal; can be paralyzing for me. I was struggling with finding a way to hold myself accountable for accomplishing my public speaking goals.
I promised I would continue to share my public speaking journey, publicly! As explained in a previous post, I feel accountability is the key to my personal long-term success!
Public accountability that is!
I have enrolled in Mary’s 2-Day public speaking boot camp as my first order of action in silencing my inner critic.
Honestly, it was not easy to enroll. The inner critic was screaming loud and clear. I’ll spare you the details of what it was yelling! I have been to plenty of sales training and continuing education programs, seminars, webinars, etc. You name it and I was participating as much as continuing education as I can.
Yes, I continue to invest in my growth, but this time I invested in me.
I felt like it was the first time I had invested in me. I invested in my dream, not the dream of being a good public speaker. The dream of having the ability to share my story with millions of women globally. Women who need to understand that it’s possible, no matter what it is you want to accomplish…. you too can succeed! If you wake up everyday breathing, you can make it!
I remember the week I chose to invest in my dream. I spent a couple hundred and I felt great. I knew the investment was totally worth every penny. Not more than two days later I received an offer to join an elite group of millionaires, for a week-long free trial of the online mastermind program.
Was I interested? Of course!!!
Did I hesitate to join? Yes!
I’m sure you’re asking, why? What was the psychological door stop that prevented me from entering that space? It wasn’t about confidence, finances or fear. I have to continually filter out investments which would distract me from my end goal.
I want to share my story, not learn new sales tactics or build sales funnels.
I want to gain the confidence to book a public speaking event! I want the willpower to walk on stage and greet hundreds, if not millions of women in need of inspiration, motivation and tactical solutions to help them create the life of their dreams!
The trial period was not an issue, my inability to cancel any 7-day trial, in a timely manner, certainly was! I knew, in reality, 5 days would not be enough time for me to schedule a block of time to review the offer, the platform, understand the angels, implement strategies or see any real results. Obviously, if I do not cancel the membership, I would be charged at the end of the 5 Days. Reality is, it could be another 3-5 months before I have a moment to really dive into the platform.
When you choose to take on a business expense, really take the time to think it through. Often times business owners are too concerned with trends and not focused on what will work best for them, their market, their industry, and their message. Reorganization projects can be time-consuming and can quickly eat into any budget if you are not careful. Avoid wasting money and common mistakes with the following simple tips.
- Try to clarify what it is you are investing in and why.
- Always request a demo version of any new product you intend to implement in your business.
- Is it quickly accessible?
- Is it easy to operate?
- Are the features and benefits included relevant to my goals?
Baby steps… Due to the weather here in New England, Mary’s 2-Day December boot camp has been postponed to the 13th and 14th of January. In the interim, I am joining my local Toastmasters’ club and testing every public speaking application I can find. As I continue to live the unfolding of this journey, I will be sure to keep you up to date.
Thank you again for joining the Technology = Equality Community! I’d love to hear what you think about the steps I am taking. What else do you feel I could do to silence my inner critic?
